FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Do you sell show quality hatching eggs? No, we do not sell "show quality" hatching eggs, but we do offer hatching eggs from our breeding pens. Our breeding birds are carefully bred to meet the Standard of Perfection and have had success in shows; however, we cannot guarantee that the offspring from these eggs will grow into show-quality birds. When purchasing hatching eggs, it's important to understand that there is a risk involved, and not all chicks hatched from these eggs will necessarily develop into show-quality individuals.
-
Can you guarantee hatch rate/development?Despite our thorough fertility testing and diligent monitoring at the farm, we cannot guarantee a successful hatch or that all eggs will develop. Various factors, such as temperature fluctuations, humidity changes, rough handling during shipping, and arrested embryo development, can affect the viability of the eggs. Given these uncertainties, we do not guarantee hatch rates or development. By ordering hatching eggs from us, you acknowledge and accept this responsibility. Refunds for eggs based on hatch rates are not provided under any circumstances.
-
How does shipping hatching eggs work?Given the numerous variables influencing success or failure during incubation, we are unable to offer any guarantees regarding hatch rates or development. We take extensive measures to securely pack the eggs, shipping them in double boxes to ensure their safe arrival. However, if your hatching eggs arrive damaged, please contact us on the day of delivery and provide photos or videos of the damage. We will either issue a refund or send a replacement shipment of hatching eggs. Hatching eggs are sent via USPS Priority Mail throughout the week. Once your hatching eggs have been shipped, you will receive an email with your tracking number.
-
How do you check for fertility?Although we hatch many chicks here on the farm, before shipping any eggs, we check the hatch rate of all of our breeding pens to ensure that our customers receive the most viable eggs possible. Throughout the year, we continuously hatch chicks from these same eggs. Buy with confidence, knowing that we do everything in our power to provide the most viable hatching eggs we can offer.

What varieties of Seramas am I able to show in-cage?As of 2024, the acceptable varieties for in-cage showing are white, black, exchequer, blue, splash and ginger red. Seramas that are these colors are known as “American" Seramas. Ayam or Traditional Seramas cannot be shown at “in cage” shows, only in Table Top.

What's the difference between all of the types of Seramas?American Seramas: The body type of American and Traditional Serama is the same. The key distinction is that the term "American" refers to the colors recognized by the American Poultry Association (APA) or the American Bantam Association (ABA). This means American Seramas can be shown at most APA/ABA sanctioned events and 4H/Fair shows that adhere to ABA standards. As of 2019, the APA/ABA accepted colors include white, black, and exchequer. In January 2023, Blue, Splash, and Ginger Red were added to the accepted colors, thus categorizing them as "AMERICAN." Traditional Seramas share the same body type as American Seramas but can only be entered in cage shows as AOV (All Other Variety). Traditional Seramas: The body type of American and Traditional Serama is the same. Traditional Seramas include any colors not recognized as American colors, which are white, black, exchequer, blue, splash, and ginger red. Traditional Seramas have the same balanced structure as American Seramas, with wings aligning with the eyes and legs, and the tail held moderately upright. Traditional Seramas are best displayed in table top shows, showcasing the true nature of the breed, and there are no color restrictions for table top showing. Ayam/Malaysian Seramas: Ayam, or Malaysian style Seramas, have a more "extreme" body type and are only shown in Table Top Shows. While "Malaysian" and "Ayam" refer to the same body type, "Ayam" is the more accurate term for seramas. These terms are often used interchangeably to describe the extreme birds. Although Ayam Seramas maintain the balanced structure of the American Serama, they exhibit a more pronounced pose. Every part of the Ayam Serama should flow together harmoniously, with wings aligning with the eyes and the head position influencing the tail angle.
